How to make painting of yoga posture of a girl on the ground at sunrise from oil pastels
Hello friends, I am sharing an easy painting tutorial using oil pastels of a girl's yoga pose. This tutorial shows you how to make a painting of a girl practicing yoga at sunrise on the ground. There is no complexity in this; it is very simple. Hopefully you will be able to discover your creative side through this tutorial.
Required materials -
- Canvas Paper
- Oil pastels color
- Masking tape
- Pencil
- Sharpner
- Eraser
- Cotton or tissue paper
- Paper clipboard
- Cutter
- Compass or disc shape object
Stick the edges of a piece of paper with masking tape onto the clipboard .The masking tape will help to keep the paper in place while you are writing or drawing on it. It also helps to keep your paper from slipping off the clipboard when you are carrying it. Now follow these steps
Step - 1 Apply masking tape in a disc shape
In the first step, simply stick a piece of masking tape (use two pieces side by side if the width of the tape is less) on a flat surface to make the shape of the sun. Now, using a cutter, cut it into a disc shape from a cork or whatever small object you want to use. Now, after safely removing this disc from the flat surface, place it on the canvas paper.
Step - 2 Start with the sky top background
To make a sky-blue background, first apply ultramarine blue color, and after that, apply cerulean color and at last use light blue.
Apply ultramarine blue
It is a deep, rich color of blue pigment that provides a strong base of blue color to your background, giving you a rich look.
Apply cerulean blue
Cerulean is a lighter as compared to ultramarine blue and will provide depth and texture to the background.
Apply light blue
Light blue is a brighter blue that will create a more vibrant effect. Also apply it on the left and right sides of the paper, as shown below.
Blend the colors
To blend, use blending techniques, such as using your fingers, cotton swabs, or blending stumps. Gradually build up the colors and refine the details, as shown below, to create a beautiful sky-blue background.
Step - 3 Create Sunrise Look
Now, to give the background of the painting a sunrise look, use a combination of yellow, orange, and pink color around the shape of the sun.
Apply pink
First, apply a small amount of pink to create a sunrise effect, as shown. The pink colour will help to create the illusion of a sun rising in the sky. This will add warmth and depth to the painting.
Apply Orange
Now, apply orange color to give a beautiful effect to the sunrise. Orange is a warm and vibrant color that adds a sense of energy and happiness to a painting. It is also the color of the sun's rays and can be used to create an effect of sunrise in a painting.
Apply lemon yellow
After using pink and orange, add lemon yellow around the sun shape. The combination of pink and orange together produces a warm feeling, while the lemon yellow color brings a bright and cheerful feeling. When the lemon yellow color is added around the shape of the sun, it will give the sun a glow and make it appear brighter.
Blend the colors
After applying pink, orange, and lemon yellow around the sun shape, Blend the colours together using your fingers or a blending tool to achieve a smooth transition.
Step - 4 Reapply the color
To get a more realistic look of the sunrise, apply pink and orange again and blend smoothly and horizontally. Blending the colours horizontally will help distribute them more evenly, creating a more realistic look.
Step - 5 Enhance sky redness and coolness
Enhance sky coolness
Now, add lemon yellow on upper blue background.By adding yellow over blue, it will create a more calming and cooler atmosphere.
Enhance sky redness
Now add the red color and blend it, as shown in the pictures below. By adding red to the sky, it will make the sky appear warmer and more fiery.
Step - 6 Add the ground
Now, using black and brown, make the ground at the bottom . By blending black and brown together, we can create a more realistic look for the ground that resembles the way it looks when the sun is rising. The combination of colors creates a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Step - 7 Enhance the sky's blueness
Now, to increase the blueness in the sky, apply light blue to the previous blue background and blend the colour as depicted below.
Step - 8 Draw flying birds in the sky
Now, using a pencil, draw silhouettes of birds in the sky during sunrise. The silhouette of birds against the warm colors of the sunrise create a stunning image that conveys a sense of freedom and beauty. It also represent a transition from darkness to light and a hope for a new beginning.
Step - 9 Sketch the outline of yoga posture and darken them
Draw an outline of a yoga pose of a girl sitting on the ground. The girl is sitting in a cross-legged position with one hand resting on her knee, the other raised up, and her back straight. She is looking left (right in the photo)with her chin slightly raised.
We are making a silhouettes of a girl in yoga pose, so after sketching the yoga pose, shade the whole shape. The shading gives more depth and definition to the silhouette.
Step - 10 Refine and finalize
Remove disc-shaped masking tape
Remove the disc-shaped masking tape from the center of the paper. You can pull off the tape with tweezers by grabbing its edges and slowly pulling them off. The tape can also be gently scraped away with a blade, being careful not to damage the paper.
Give the circle sunrise shape
The sun appears in a complete white circular shape after the tape is removed. To give it a sunrise look, use orange and lemon yellow color, make the orange and yellow lower half of the circle, and also apply a little amount of lemon yellow color to the remaining upper half. Do not forget to blend the colors using a cotton swab or finger. By adding the yellow colour to the upper half and circumference of the circle, it creates a warm, rising effect that resembles a sunrise. This helps to bring the image to life and create a more realistic representation of the sun rising.
final touches
To complete the picture, draw three birds flying upwards just in front of the sun with a pencil.
We have completed the painting project. Finally, slowly pull the tape away from the edges of the paper at a 45-degree angle, keeping it at a 45-degree angle with the painted surface. This will help prevent paint from coming off the tape. If the tape pulls up the surface of the paper, stop immediately and try again with a gentler approach.
Congratulations! We created a beautiful painting of a silhouette of a girl doing yoga at sunrise with oil pastels.
