How to make a Halloween theme painting using Oil pastel

Creating a Halloween-themed drawing with oil pastels can be a fun and vibrant project! Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating a spooky yet colorful Halloween scene

Material Required

  • Oil pastels (black, white, orange, medium yellow, yellow, dark violet, violet, Prussian blue, Ultramarine Blue, and Antwerp Blue )
  • Pencil ( Recommended 6B or 8B)
  • Black marker or fine-tip pen (optional for outlines)
  • Blending tool (cotton swab, tissue, or simply you can blend using a finger)
  • Thick paper for oil pastels
  • Masking tape
  • Big circular shape object (or masking tape)
  • Cutter
  • White Acrylic paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Step-1 Draw the Circle

    Using a circular object and pencil, draw a circle in the middle of the paper(which represents the moon), as shown below.

    Step-2 Cover the Moon shape

    Now, using Masking tape and a cutter cover the circle as depicted below.

    Step-3 Color the Background sky

    Apply yellow, Drak Yellow, Orange, Antwerp Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Prussian Blue, Violet, and Dark Violet around the moon, as shown in the picture below.

    Step-4 Blend the Background Colors

    Using a blending tool, blend these colors for smooth transitions as shown below.

    Step-5 Make Stars in the sky

    Now load white acrylic paint on the brush and lightly sprinkle over the sky background as depicted below.

    Step-6 Uncover the moon shape

    Next, using a sharp object, remove the masking tape from the circle and darken the lower part of it.

    Step-7 Add the Spooky Halloween Elements

    Now draw silhouettes of grass, a tree, pumpkins, a crow, a Haunted House, bats, and a witch on brooms as shown below.

    Step-8 Remove masking tape

    Our painting is completed so at last safely remove the masking tape. Happy Halloween and happy drawing.
