How to make a painting rainy day scene with a girl holding umbrella from oil pastels color

Hello, friends! Today, I’m excited to share a simple tutorial on how to create a rainy day scene featuring a girl holding an umbrella using oil pastels. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of painting a girl with an umbrella against a natural backdrop. I hope this tutorial inspires you to tap into your creativity and give it a try!

Required materials -

• Canvas Paper
• Oil pastels color
• Masking tape
• Pencil
• Sharpner
• Eraser
• Cotton or tissue paper
• Drawing board
• blue and white acrylic paint
• brush
• fixative spray (optional)

Secure a sheet of paper to your clipboard by wrapping masking tape around the edges. This creates a barrier that keeps the paper in place as you work, preventing it from slipping or falling. Once it's secure, you can proceed with the following steps:

Step-1 Make Grid and Sketch the Composition

First,calculate the dimensions of your paper using scale and make a grid of 3 horizontal and 4 vertical equidistant line . Here I use A5 size paper(300gsm).

After making the grid , draw the outline of girl holding umberlla using the pencil and erase all grid line as shown below.

Step-2 Start with the Sky Background

Now apply light blue at the upper half part of paper as depicted in picture below.

Now use cerulean blue hue in the middle as depicted below.

At the bottom part of sky use olive green to show some dstant grenery.

And use some Ultramrine blue as shown below.

Now blend these color smoothly using tissue paper or piece of cotton cloth. you can blend through your's fingers.

Almost we created a shinny sky background ,At last to finish this sky background we can create illustration of clouds using white and ultramrine as shown in following pictures.

Step-3 Color the Umbrella

Here we deciced to make yellow canopy umberlla , So we start by using medium yellow.

Now apply deep yellow as shown.

Now ,Apply lemon yellow at the top of umberlla.

Now,blend the colors as shown below.

Using the pencil draw lines for showing Ribs and make a orange End Tip as depicted below.

Step-4 Work on the Background

Now , To make bottom background , Apply small amount of light blue.

After that apply light green as looks like in picture given below.

Now make dots of deep yellow and orange color as shown.

Blend these colors and again make yellow and orange dots , which looks like flowers.

Now using pencil lightly shade the way.

Step-5 Add Details to the Girl

Apply light blue and ultramrine blue to paint the hoodie dress as shown

Now use orange to make shoes.

Now use blue on orange and using scraper tool make line on shoes as shown.

paint the legs using yellow ochre.

Using orange paint the bottom of hoodie dress.

At last make yellow hood and mark the lines on dress using pencil and make hair.

Step-6 Final Touches ( Create the Rain Effect )

Now ,shade the path using pencil and sprinkle white acrylic paint using brush which create rain. Carefully remove the masking tape from the edges of the paper to reveal a clean border around your artwork.

Step-7 Review and Refine

Step back and review your painting. Make any necessary adjustments to the colors, details, or blending to achieve the desired effect.Once you’re satisfied, your rainy day painting with a girl holding an umbrella is complete! Add your signature to your painting, usually in a bottom corner, to complete your work of art. To protect your art work for long time please use protective spray on it.
